NUT Pensions Campaign

Support the Lobby of Parliament on 26 October
and be prepared for 30 November Day of Action.

Schools will have received information from NUT HQ about the continuing Pensions Campaign and planned action for this term.

To date the Government has made no tangible concessions on its proposal to make teachers work longer, pay more and get less.

With opposition to the attack on our pensions, now across all the teacher unions, we have a major opportunity on 26 October to give a clear and united message to government that we will not stand by and let them mess with our pensions.

The Lobby of Parliament on 26 October, together with the presentation of the petition, will provide government with an opportunity to listen to the anger of teachers and enable them to think again if they wish to avoid further strike action, not just by teachers but across the whole public sector on Wednesday 30 November.

That is why on 26 October it is crucial that at least one teacher from each school in Essex attends the mass lobby and contact their MP to give an unequivocal message about the unfair attempts to worsen our pensions.

So before half term

  • Send back the Petition form from your school
  • Ensure at least one person from across the whole staff attends the lobby
  • Contact your MP about the lobby

Remember - should the Government not shift on pensions then your union locally and nationally is committed to giving full support to 30 November public sector unions united day of strike action
