Autumn Strike Action Special

Members will be aware that a further day of strike action has been called by your Union for Wednesday 30 November. Regrettably, this is necessary because the Government has failed to make adequate changes to its pension proposals for public sector workers.

The strike on 30 June and Lobby of Parliament on 26 October has resulted in recent small concessions, while welcome, these do not address the main concerns of Paying more, Working longer (for the majority) and Getting less.

Full support for the action on 30 November is crucial to consolidate the message to Government to keep its hands off our pensions.

Essex NUT is giving full support to the action and reiterates the call on all members to join the National Day of Strike Action.

We have organised, in coordination with other Teaching Unions and Public sector unions, a March and Rally on 30 November in central Chelmsford.

You are encouraged to be there to show publicly your support for this campaign for fair pensions for teachers and all public sector workers.
